The year is 286 AC. King Jaehaerys II has just passed, leaving the throne without a rightful ruler. While his three children fight for the crown, Winter creeps closer, and unimaginable darkness looms.
Not all alliances will be so typical this time. In fact, many people have a crucial effect on the way this story is told. As for the ending, we only hope there are enough people left alive to tell it after its passed.

[attr="class","textieno"] When was the last time did Carmilla saw her dear sister? Perhaps, five years ago. By then, Carmilla was thirteen years old; she totally looked different back at the day, a scrawny lassie who had a short golden mane. Carmilla cried a lot that day, the day Yuiliya left home and family to pursue her own career as a master of coin. Cammy recollected such a memory with a bit of nostalgia and sorrow. Five years ago, the realm was at peace. War wasn't looming on the horizon like it did nowadays. It was kind of sad to meet her sister again under these unfortunate circumstances, and Carmilla wished it could have been better. The Wake of the late king was the day before, it was when Carmilla set her bright amber eyes upon the handsome visage of her sister. Knowing very well that a meeting must be in order, Carmilla managed to reserve an appointment in the Master's full schedule. It wasn't easy, to be honest! It seemed like Yuiliya was always busy. Did her older sister find the happiness she sought out for herself? Was being a master of coin worth it? Did it worth to be away from home and family? Carmilla had many questions to ask, but she needed to meet her sister first. [break][break] Clad in a simple dress of deep red, Carmilla managed to be modest and didn't show much of her skin; she wore a black mantle of which the golden lion of House Lannister embellished as a well-woven embroidery. Two Lannister guards showed Carmilla the way and escorted her to Yuiliya's office in the red keep. Carmilla's asked permission to enter and the guards of Yuiliya's office would relay the older sibling the message; Carmilla Lannister was waiting outside, and she was asking an audience with her sister.

She had been informed shortly after the funeral of Jaehaerys that her younger sister was requesting an appointment with her. The formality of the notion brought a smile to the lips of the Master of Coin as she was reminded that Carmilla was no longer thirteen years old. Five years had passed, bringing her to the age of eighteen and the title of adult. She would only begrudgingly refer to her baby sister as an adult, unsure if there would ever be a time when she could accept that Carmilla could could no longer be referred to as a child.
Though no time existed within her schedule, a slot of time was created as Yuliya understood this was a rare opportunity to spend time with her sister in a private setting. She was unsure of when the next chance for the two to be in the company of one another would arise. Especially with the solemn promise of the entire realm riding towards a horizon holding a future of war and loss. A question of why Carmilla went through the trouble of arranging an appointment instead of bursting into her quarters crossed her mind. The most probable answer was that the nature of their meeting would be a sober one.
Having rose from her seat behind her desk, the Lannister woman smoothed down her crisp skirt as a knock came from her door. A guard poked their head in, relaying to the Master of Coin the presence of her younger sister. No more than a brief nod was needed to allow the door to swing wide open to have Carmilla ushered into her office. Rushing over to the blond headed beauty, her arms wrapped around the young woman to pull her into a loving embrace. “You’re half a foot taller than me now, Cammy. Are you sure you’re the same sister I left behind at Casterly Rock?” she cooed into the lionness’ ear, appreciative of her sibling’s presence.

[attr="class","textieno"]"Yuiliya, I miss you dearly!" Carmilla whispered into her older sibling's ear. The young Lannister felt comfort from the embrace, a comfort she often had not felt from her mother's. A few moments had passed, and they weren't long; Carmilla waited for Yuiliya to break the hold, and the older sibling would find the younger's eyes welling with water. Carmilla's amber eyes glimmered, they were about to crack a few tears; she closed them, and they fell upon her cheeks. "It had been long, too long!" She sniffled walked two steps away trying to hide her face; Carmilla was a Lioness, and she didn't want to seem weak. "Can we speak privately?" She looked at the guards wishing her sister would send them off along the duration of this meeting. Carmilla was about to utter a few words she had no intention to share with foreign ears. The young Lannister began to walk around the office knocking the walls with her hand, gently as possible; she tested the ground with the thuds of her leather boots. [break][break] "Are these walls safe?" Carmilla had always heard there were secret passages embedded deeply within the Red Keep; they were secret enough to let anyone eavesdrop on a conversation like this. "Yuiliya, I am not going to take much of your precious time, although I really want to stay for hours to remember moments long past." She came back where Yuiliya was standing, or perhaps sitting by then. "You witnessed what had happened in the wake!" By all means, it wasn't a dull affair. "War is upon us," Her voice fluttered burdened with a great weight of concerns. "And I fear our House might not survive it," House Lannister was powerful and strong, and probably the destruction of such a great House would never come to pass. The Lannisters fielded the biggest army, and they had the gold to call for more across the sunset sea. Still, Carmilla couldn't shake the darkness which took hold of her heart. "I don't want to see you or Logan come to harm!" She smiled, albeit sadly. "We need a second plan! Therefore I came to you, to discuss it!" Carmilla revealed her intentions.

She too missed her sister, praying for her safety and wellbeing to the old gods and the new each night. While she wasn’t a pious woman, Yuliya still found comfort in the false belief that higher powers watched over those who properly worshipped. There was also a sense of consolation knowing Carmilla could potentially be protected when her elder sister was unable to keep her out of harm’s way. “Five years too long, no? It shows. Your beauty has grown a thousandfold since then. Your wit and cunning too, no doubt,” Yuli quipped to her sister with a prideful smile. She chose to overlook the tears she noticed brimming over the edge of Cammy’s eyes, knowing talk of weakness would create feebleness the Lannister family name did not condone. Nevertheless, the sight made her own eyes feel as if they were close to pricking with the salty crystalline droplets too. “Of course, Cammy.” All it took was one firm look to usher her pair of guards out of her chambers, the door closing shut softly behind them as they exited.
The uneasiness of her sister’s travels across the room caused concern to overcome her, watching Carmilla closely as the heels of her boots thudded on the floor. If she kept walking back and forth so ferociously she would end up wearing down a path in the floor. “Not even the Master of Whisperers could infiltrate these walls,” she gently spoke to her, assuring her that their conversation would remain a private matter. Her tiny frame rested on the edge of the desk, her bottom placed atop it for she did not feel as if she could remain in a relaxed sitting position for this discussion. “War is upon us, Cammy. That I cannot deny, neither can the entire realm. This troubles you, I can see it in the lines of your face,” Yuli said, a frown finding its way onto her face at the weight of her remark settling upon her. “I wish for the safety of our family and house as well, dear sister. Please, tell me what you have in mind.”

[attr="class","textieno"]Indeed, five years were a long time. The only way of communication was the Ravens until the death of the late King. His death provided the means and the opportunity to meet once again. They were eight years apart, and probably Carmilla didn't hold the same place Logan had in Yuliya's heart. Still, she enjoyed the eloquent words of her sister; Carmilla chuckled, completely forgetting about the sad moment of reunion she had just a moment ago. "You will be forever the jewel of House Lannister, Yuliya! This will never change; I am sure of it." As for the cunning; Carmilla took after mother, and it was more of a curse than a blessing. While her older sister had given her permission to confide and helped greatly in such by dismissing the guards. The room was safe as well, even from the master of whispers. Apparently, Yuliya took precautionary steps to keep her office safe from ears beyond the walls. "I wish, we could converse about your five years around these parts." Carmilla stepped away from the wall. "I wish, I could tell you what I have done along this period!" Carmilla took a few steps; she reached Yuliya, almost two steps away. "But we don't have time!" Sadly, she said. [break][break] "What I am going to tell you might be considered as pure madness." She waved her hand to emphasize. "But please entertain my thoughts," Carmilla crossed her arms. "The gold is Casterly Rock is not safe!" She took a step away, giving her back to Yuliya. "Should the Rock falls!" Carmilla turned around again facing her sister. "I pray the Seven this won't happen!" She closed herself from her sister again. "We will lose our edge in the incoming war." She raised an index finger while looking at the nearby window, her eyes glimmered reflecting the incoming light. "Our parents had trusted you with the House' coffers and spending." Carmilla looked back again at Yuliya, drinking from her visage. "You can hide a good portion of our gold" Okay, Carmilla was asking her sister to relocate some of the Lannister's wealth somewhere else. "In the Iron Bank!" Actually, this move might save House Lannister from total annihilation should circumstances go awry. Also, this move might cause troubles. The only one who could decide to transfer funds to the Iron Bank was Yuliya; it was her decision.

She would never maintain a bond with Carmilla that possessed the same intimacy as her feelings towards Logan. And she would never attempt to dissuade herself into believing she could. Her closeness with her elder brother was unrivaled by another other connection she maintained, save for the affection she felt towards her mother. Cammy still held a dear spot in her heart; the little sister she coveted and watched after transforming into a dauntless and respectable woman. Each of the Lannister children boasted their own reputation, revered by the realm for the accomplishments they had made on their own. “You are the one who is truly golden, Carmilla. Gems might be precious but the gold of your eyes is absolutely invaluable,” she cooed to her sister, the adoration she felt towards her sister evident in her words. This was unfortunately not a time for a proper reunion and they were not granted with the opportunity to sit and chat four hours, finding themselves immersed in tales of the other’s lives. She would be forced to continue to wonder about the struggles and triumphs Carmilla had faced up untl that point. “You will be able to tell me soon enough. I promise you this,” she swore to the younger Lannister, words solemn but she truly did hold hope for their future.
Looking to her sister with a grave stare, the gleam in her eyes was enough to assure her that her words would not be heard as bogus or absurd. The thoughts troubling Carmilla seemed to be have been heavily considered before she decided to seek solace from her elder sister. “You’re musings are entirely correct. If our family is undermined, then there is no way to protect the gold that lies beneath the Rock. It is a worry that has not left my mind since the confrontation at the wake,” she admitted to her sister. Yuliya’s brows knit together in dire concern, wondering what theories or potential avenues of resolve her sister would present. The manner in which her sister attentively looked to her revealed a piece of her thoughts, especially given her title as the realm’s Master of Coin. The plan did not strike her as a madness, like Carmilla had refferred to them as, but she would not allow herself to agree to a tremendous move without further questions and potentially another angle of input. “Tell me, Cammy. Have you gone to mother with these concerns?”

[attr="class","textieno"] Unexpected! [break][break] Carmilla expected to be ridiculed and trifled; she anticipated her sister might not indulge her thoughts. That's why the youngest Lannister began her words with words like madness to boost the impact of her statement and to catch her sister's attention. Carmilla felt bad for doubting her sister, for a moment. But as a merchant, she knew nothing was absolute even the sacred ties of blood. Carmilla's thoughts grew darker, and she hated herself for it. Still, she saw Yuliya in a new light; therefore, Cammy's lips curled into a smile of appreciation; she appreciated her sister's attention and candor. Perhaps being the youngest of the pride didn't mean she wasn't heard out. Yuliya's next question was the most logical one. Did Carmilla confide with her mother about such matters? Well, this was a question she didn't want to answer; however, she had no other choice but confront the matter in Yuliya's presence. Cammy let a sigh escape the grasp of her lips. She turned around where her steps took her to a nearby seat. "No, I didn't!" The young Lannister managed to pull a leg over the other, while her arm reclined over Yuliya's desk. Carmilla's index finger began to tap the desk gently, it was a sign that Yuliya should pick up; Carmilla was stressed and lost in her own thoughts. [break][break] Their mother was an enigmatic figurine, a goddess who walked upon the land and she didn't trample over flowers. Their mother was perfect in every way; the way she talked; the way she walked; the way she smiled; the way she laughed; they way she schemed; the way she devised her plans. Bred from the same cloth, Carmilla saw her mother in a different light than the one her older siblings had viewed their mother; she saw their mother was the ultimate machinator and a manipulator of the highest degree. Carmilla believed other two other women rivaled their mother in this kind of power; Alysanne Targaryen, the strong woman of the Crownlands, and Alira Stark, the Lady of Winterfell; this indicated how powerful their mother was as a woman. Did Carmilla hate her mother? Of course, not! Perhaps, her older siblings gave their mother unconditional love. Carmilla was different, though. She loved her mother, but she feared her as well. In the same way, she feared her mother's overconfidence might be the undoing of House Lannister. Could Carmilla share her doubts with Yuliya, the noblest of the four young Lannisters? "I am not intending to confide with our mother!" Carmilla had her own reasons. Cammy looked away trying to avoid Yuliya's gaze. [break][break] Would Yuliya explore Carmilla's reasons? Or would she reprimand her? These were the questions...

She shared a relationship with their mother that differed from the ones maintained by her siblings. From a young age, Morella had always viewed her secondborn as more than merely her daughter. Yuliya understood how her mother operated from a young age, never being dissuaded by the aloof and detached demeanor the lady lion showcased to the realm. If anything, she had always found herself idolizing the way her mother maintained to some semblance of individuality despite fulfilling all of the expectations of a lady. But Morella Lannister was for more than the delicate rose turned into a fierce lion of House Lannister. Seen as more of a confidant to the lady, Yuliya had carried the beliefs, flaws, and secrets of her mother for years, sealing her lips and vowing to never betray the woman who raised her with fondness and a certain sense of expectation. Still, she was not surprised to hear that the youngest Lannister child chose to keep her secondary plan of action to protect the family’s wealth from a demise brought on by war. “Cammy, stop tapping your fingers and focus on me. I don’t want you to get lost in that vast mind of yours. Then I’ll never be able to lure you back,” she gently said to the tiniest lion with a reassuring smile.
She wholly understood why Carmilla decided against alerting their mother of the concerns she felt towards their house. Watching her youngest sister grow and flourish, the little lion noticed the similarities between her mother and sister instantly. Perhaps it was because of the unique viewpoint she possessed from holding her mother’s secrets so closely to herself. But there was one distinct trait about the youngest Lannister that diverged her from fully existing within the shadow of their mother. She was thoroughly warm and full of a vigor that stretched further than her loyalty to House Lannister. It would never be argued than any of the children did not feel a fierce loyalty to their house; they would always remain a pride and protect one another with tooth and claw. But Morella vyed for power in a way that did not align with Yuliya or Carmilla. However, did not keep her from loving her mother any less. “Do you believe she would advise against your suggestion? I wish to hear your thoughts, Carmilla,” she encouraged the golden eyed girl, looking to her attentively.

[attr="class","textieno"] Carmilla's finger ceased the erratic motion, her disturbance came to a stop; she turned to drink from Yuiliya's visage once more. [break][break] "I beg your pardon! It is a useless habit of mine!" Carmilla's lips curled slightly, she felt embarrassed. The young one coughed clearing her throat, trying to regain her composure. "She might! She might not!" But this wasn't the point of Carmilla's argument. "Mother is an ambitious woman, she will use all of her power to complete her goals whatever is the cost." Telling their mother about the hidden gold would defeat the purpose of keeping the gold hidden. "Even if she accepts, she may use the hidden reserves for the war effort or other endeavors." Carmilla clapped her hand gently. "I don't want the reserves to be used for war, Yuiliya! These reserves are meant to save us from possible extinction, a means for a comeback!" Honestly, if it was up to Carmilla, she wouldn't join this madness called war; it was bad for the business. "You know, a Khal who can't ride his horse is no Khal! If we use the same argument; a Lannister with no gold is no Lannister!" Considering how Lannisters were despised by other houses, they might suffer greatly from this setback; their pride as Lions would be shattered forever after. "Again, the matter is up to you!" Yuiliya was the master of coin, it was her decision to make. "Better you be careful around mother! She will be asking for favors, I am sure of it!" She took a deep breath followed by a desperate sigh. "Never put yourself in a precarious situation." Carmilla advised Yuiliya, even if that meant refusing Carmilla's proposal to hide the gold or not to align with their mother's commands. "Promise me that!" Yuiliya's personal safety was above all things. [break][break] "I will be meeting with a trader of a good reputation, she goes by the name of Vaeryia Agyare!" Carmilla cared to share with her sister her next step. "I will try to make a deal with her to give us a foothold in Bravoos, if possible!" The young Lannister was searching for an exit should things go awry. "Even if it means offering all of my fortunes!" Carmilla was capable of amassing a good sum of gold as a merchant; she wasn't using Lannister's gold. "After that, I will go visit our good aunt Alira up North!" It was a journey she had always wanted to make. Carmilla grew fond of her aunt the few times she had met her, and her aunt's absence in the Rock had always bothered Carmilla. Anyways, Carmilla chose to entrust Yuiliya with her next destination. [break][break] Carmilla had to wonder when they would meet again.
