236AC
After the passing of Maekar I, Hand of the King Brynden Rivers called forth the Great Council to name the next king. Aegon V, better known as Aegon the Unlikely, ascended despite being the fourth-born son. Aenys Blackfyre of the exiled Blackfyre family writes in his own claim to the throne, but his request is received late. Bryden grants safe passage to the Blackfyre though it comes to light that he planned to murder the Blackfyre. Aegon V has Brynden Rivers arrested, and exiled beyond the wall. This begins the first step to rebuilding the relationship between the Blackfyre family and Westeros.
238AC
After numerous meetings between Aegon V and Aenys Blackfyre, the Blackfyre family was called back from exile in order to end the feud and prevent further bloodshed between the two families. They would be named a vassal house of House Targaryen and given a castle on the coast of the Crownlands that would be further known as Ebonreach Keep. Part of the agreement is returning the sword Blackfyre.
The sword playing such an integral part to the lore of both Houses, however, it is melted down instead — always having had a large blade for a bastard sword, two smaller swords are reforged — one for House Targaryen, one for House Blackfyre. House Blackfyre retains the royal titles of Prince and Princesses, similar to the way the Princes of Dorne fashion themselves, but it is recognized that they stand outside the line of succession and swear an oath of fealty to the Iron Throne.
240AC
Aemon Targaryen leaves to join the Night's Watch, leaving behind a son and daughter to continue his branch of the family.
246AC

263AC
Daeron marries the granddaughter of Duncan Targaryen, causing a a stir within the family due to Duncan's line possessing commoner blood through Lady Jenny of Oldstones.
266AC
Aegon the Unlikely passes due a combination of declining health and injury with Firaxes. Jaehaerys II, his sickly son takes over as king of the Seven Kingdoms. Firaxes, distraught over Aegon V's death, flees over the Narrow Sea, and isn't seen from again albeit reports of scorched land and corpses.
273AC
Aemon Targaryen passes.
284AC
After prosperous years between the Seven Kingdoms due to excellent rule from Jaehaerys II, his body begins losing strength rapidly. Bedridden, Jaehaerys II looks to his two sons for the next king as tradition has mandated. While the eldest son, Daeron, held traditional right to the throne, Jaehaerys II saw that his second son Rhaegar would be more fit to rule due to a noble and honorable personality that he felt would fair better on the throne versus Daeron's cold and methodical approach to life and leadership. Some also spoke rumors that the king was bitter with Daeron's marriage choice into an diluted family line and the theatrics it caused for him.
285AC
As his days drew closer, Jaehaerys II had yet to name an heir, leaving both brothers engaging in various political affairs — both believing they were the next chosen heir. Although Daeron held legal claim due to being the eldest, and the lack of Jaehaery's denouncement of him, many of the lords around Kings Landing prepared for Rhaegar's ascent, strongly believing that their king would retain his senses and name the man better fit to be king.
286AC
Jaehaerys II passes in the privacy of himself and The Hand of the King who claims Jaehaerys named his daughter Alysanne as his successor as his dying wish. However, with no overt statement from the former King, both brothers protested the words of the man, believing themselves to be the true successor. And without this proof, the death left way for Daeron to take the throne without legal repercussions. Rhaegar at this time also stakes his claim off his belief his father still intended him to be king and retreated to Dragonstone amidst the rising tensions within the Red Keep. The moment of confusion split the Targaryen house, resulting in some of the house departing with Rhaegar and leaving the council in disorder. The chaos in the keep has left Westeros in political disarray while the people of the Seven Kingdoms anxiously prepare for the coming storm from their actions.
