William was born from a military man and was surrounded by the military for most of his life. Even at a young age, he was drilled into respecting the tenets of duty and discipline. [break][break] William was small when he was younger, despite being the eldest of his brothers, and his physical weakness was a point of derisiveness between his father and younger brothers, and it made him bitter early. But from this bitterness came a true appreciation for how laws and tenets worked. His father made it a point for the soldiers in the army to beat him into submission until he was hardened by the treatment. And though harsh, it worked.[break][break] William squired in the Dornish March, and learned first hand experience how to handle life and death situations. Fighting under his father and with Arkas Baratheon, William became quickly accustomed to trench and field warfare, and came out with a hardened perspective on life. After his father had passed away, William returned to Horn Hill for a while. He was appointed as Master of Law by the Hand recently, primarily out of a desire for political manuevering, but also due to some degree of impression upon understanding of law.
