When did we build this broken home?

Eryn is the first child of Ebon Martell, the Prince of Dorne, the Lord of Sunspear - the head of House Martell. And she is his heir, by law, although some question the legitimacy. Eryn was conceived in the wedlock of a fireball relationship between her father and a noble woman from the Free Cities. When she first entered Dorne, she had already lived her early childhood in Essos. But when her father ascended to the throne of Dorne, she followed. Her mother didn't: She had died in Essos. For the first years of her life it had been a simple arrangment: Her father and her.

It all changed when Ebon returned to Sunspear. While Eryn couldn't magically disappear, he had to remarry for the sake of continuation in the line of House Martell. Another woman was the result, siblings soon following after. And quite a lot of them, too. But Eryn remained at her father's side, living her life with hardly a concern for her siblings. Everything suffers the straining effect of time, however.

Once upon a time the bond between Ebon and Eryn was considered unbreakable, headed to a point where no relationship made of father and daughter should. The desert is all too hot a place for passion-driven people to remain seperate, however. With her step-mother gaining favour and Eryn preferring a selfish lifestyle over the responsibilities of an heir, she became a Prince in her own right - in Dorne it is all the same - but she styled herself with the male title when she set out to her own journeys for the rest of the world to realize their folly.

Eryn is a born fighter. Her skill on horseback is rivaled by few and only augmented by her years in training with spears. In combination with her daring personality and reckless abandon of society's norms, it amassed quite a reputation to her name. At one point she entered one of the King's many tourneys as a mystery knight. Unhorsing everyone in the tilts she advanced through, she defeated the Champion of the Kingsguard in the final joust. Upon the spectactular display of skill, the mystery knight revealed herself - dark silk of hair flowing in the wind. And the King laughed madly. And Eryn laughed with him. As her prize for winning she asked to be knighted by the King himself, an honour not to be given to a female, whether from Dorne or not. Imposing her ideals of genderless freedom, she styles herself knight in addition to the title of Princess, fully making sure to collide with any prejudices she can come across, be they conservative Lordlings or zealous faith preachers.

By now she has come to be known as an unpredictable spear-wielder with the love of some and the hate of many driving her on to challenge pre-existing norms in Westeros' society -- if she isn't suffering bouts of depressed apathy, only kept alive by the sweetness Dornish wine might offer. Like her father, she has toured the Free Cities, meeting her mothers family and fighting for a mercenary company.
