[break][break] Lorent found that the most prevalent hindrance to those around him was simple human emotion, and he went as far as training himself to ignore instinctive impulse in favor of cold and calculated judgment. Grasping his intentions is extremely difficult because he takes meticulous and cumbersome approaches to his endeavors as a means of improving his chances of success. His actions and words are generally insincere and seldom enacted without a particular reason, and this insincerity lasts as long as he perceives is necessary. This facade is completed by his signature smile, which is oddly organic compared to the rest of his demeanor. [break][break] However, no matter how manipulative and apathetic he appears, it does not change the fact that he actually does have a conscience. He values his family but rarely allows himself to make meaningful bonds to others. [attr="class,"bioentry"]The thirdborn of the Lord of Highgarden, Lorent found himself positioned to be quite the unremarkable individual. He was born in the shadow of his brother and raised in it as well, enjoying a lack of scrutiny while suffering from an equal lack of attention. Even so, he entered the world with a desire to rise above all and he believes he was gifted with a sharp mind to help him achieve his dream. [break][break] Lorent was always an observer. He observed the lessons that his parents tried to force upon his eldest brother, the successes and failures of those close to him, and the daily interactions of the people within the kingdom. He was initially known as Lorent the Silent, so quiet that his family feared he was mute for the first few years of his life. His silence was actually him ignoring conversations that he perceived as a waste of time, a trait that he occasionally employs to this day. [break][break] He would surprise his parents at the age of nine when he asked to be sent to Oldtown to act as a page of Hightower. They were surprised because he never asked for anything before. He had never even spoken to them without being addressed before, and he seemed adamant about it. It saved them the effort of figuring out what to do with him, so they granted his wish. Obviously Lorent held an ulterior motive. In his head, acting as a page would yield the physical training of a knight and he would be able to soak in the culture of Oldtown during his leisure time. [break][break] He managed to leave a good enough impression during his first year at Hightower that his status was elevated to squire, and he would return to Highgarden nine years later as Ser Lorent Tyrell. He had actually been knighted at the age of sixteen, but stayed an extra three years as a sworn sword of Hightower. Through careful use of his free time during that decade, Lorent would frequent the bars near Oldtown's port to make acquaintances with various foreign traders that he would study. Through these interactions he was able to become an adept marksman with bows and throwing weapons. He also developed an impressive level of dexterity and often practices feats of legerdemain, especially when he wields daggers. He even became proficient in animal care. [break][break] Lorent has used his knighthood as a pass to sparingly travel since his return, citing a desire to measure himself in the various tournaments when he really just wants to observe more of the world. [attr="class","bioheader"]inventory. [attr="class,"bioentry"]Ironbloom; Lorent possesses a full set of steel armor that he treated himself to upon becoming a knight. The entire set is painted gold, and the right pauldron has three gold roses to indicate his position as the third son of Lord Tyrell. The armor is distinct and somewhat well known because even the helmet has a mad smile engraved in its design. [break][break] Surefyre; After procuring dragonbone from a trader in the port of Oldtown during his stay as a squire, Lorent used his connections to have it fashioned into a black composite bow. He generally keeps the bow on him at all times and often uses it as a melee weapon due to the durability of dragonbone. It has three roses engraved in the handle, similar to the pauldron of his persona armor. Of course, for practicality, he usually keeps a quiver stocked with normally twenty arrows unless otherwise stated.
