Some are destined for greatness, some are not. It had been made very clear to Merope, ever since she was little, that she was meant to grow up, get married to some minor lord and keep her mouth shut, but although she could deal with the first two things, she would never agree to shut up. Her mouth was made for talking, and talk she did. After all, she had a little bit of Lannister blood in her, thanks to her great-great-grandmother or something of the sort, a Lannister lady married to a lord Serrett whose names had almost been forgotten.
The first man she had been betrothed to didn't last very long: poor guy ended up cursing the Serretts and their stubborn daughter to the seven hells and beyond. The second lasted for almost a year, but was quick to withdraw when he got tired of his affections never being returned, when he learned that Merope thought he was lower than trash for thinking so little of women. Three is a lucky number in mythology and it seems that her third fiance is handling things better, a hothead just like her, with a fierce attitude.
Known for her bluntness, Merope has, undoubtedly, made quite a few enemies, but she is definitely not bothered by such: if she has to step on corpses to climb the ladder, then she most certainly will.
