The year is 286 AC. King Jaehaerys II has just passed, leaving the throne without a rightful ruler. While his three children fight for the crown, Winter creeps closer, and unimaginable darkness looms.
Not all alliances will be so typical this time. In fact, many people have a crucial effect on the way this story is told. As for the ending, we only hope there are enough people left alive to tell it after its passed.

Aegys had arrived.
That had been the message Saerysa received that morning from a courier. It was rather amazing how much happiness and excitement could be drawn from three words, although there were of course several, more well known phrases of such length that had equal effect. Nonetheless, on that morning Sae had rushed to the harbor, or at least as fast as was expected of her considering she had to carefully choose her attire and then find the detachment of her guard. Sae had long ago been told - nay. ordered - to never leave the Red Keep without at least four guards at all times. It was rather troublesome, but she wasn't going complain or wiggle her way out of it. Other people knew what was best for her, and this was just a fact. Both because she was woefully inept at living in the real world, and because her family were the rulers of the seven kingdoms. They clearly had to be wise or thoughtful to achieve that. In comparison, what did she know at all?
The sun was rising over the docks as Saerysa arrived with her personal guard as well as an additional force to welcome the Targaryen prince. The peasants and dockhands gawked from a fair distance away, behind the line of City Watchmen. There was little one could do about the stench of fish or sight of the poor, but at least Aegys had arrived in the area of the docks suited for receiving persons of importance. A ramp was drawn to connect the ship and the landing, and Sae stood with her guards nervously on the landing. Among her much taller guard she was but a fluff of white curls and ripple of black satin, but her eyes were bright and her smile wide like she had been blind her whole life and was seeing the sun for the first time.

It wasn't very often that the young prince got to leave the castle walls of Dragonstone. He would be thankful to his sister for such an invite back to King's Landing. Immediately setting a course to the main lands of Westeros. Enjoying each and every wave that crashed against the ship until they reached the harbor. Watching from the head of the vessel for his sister, spotting a small troop of guards. Saerysa had to be near, walking down from the bow onto the heart of the ship. Preparations to dock were being made as he stood there.
Curious eyes of the young dragon began to explore the people below as he took his first steps off the boat onto King's Landing. It was not hard to spot the woman bound by dragons blood, a marshmallow among plated knights. Though such a defense against those who would harm his sister were of no match to him. Quickly moving up to his sister, placing both his hands around her hips as he lifted her from the earth below and swung her sister in a circle. Placing her down several moments after to grace her with a kiss upon her forehead.
" You've gotten taller." Aegys bolstered as he leaned over his sister a small bit to better inspect the woman before bowing before her. The prince bowed to no man, but she wasn't exactly a man now was she as he lifted his head. Grasping onto her hand with a gentle strength that signaled he was not prepared to leave her side until he had to return to Dragonstone. " So tell me dear sister, how are you?" Aegys questioned happily. It barely felt like the docks with this woman, it was always magical with her nearby.

She laughed as her older brother swung her affectionately, the sound high and clear like a crystal bell. She leaned back when he was done, hand to her brow where he had kissed her, a humbled smile. And then he complimented her and bowed, and she the gesture was enough to make her feel feint. The inheritor of the ruling dynasty, the young dragon himself, doing for a girl what everyone knew he would not do for the highest lords and ladies. But she supposed she was no longer a girl and he was no longer a boy, for in the time apart they had indeed grown in their separate ways to become woman and man. She inwards and endearingly, he outwards and radiantly.
"You've changed so much," she gushed as she looked him all over. Truth be told, in recent years Saerysa had become almost afraid in her admiration of her older brother. In the past he was just an outstanding sibling, but as she matured and she grew to understand herself and her surroundings more, she couldn't help but wonder if she was supposed to be his someday. She was almost certain she was destined for another Targaryen, but the thought of it being Aegys of all her brothers and cousins was nerve-wracking. Especially when he had become so bold and handsome in his time lording over Dragonstone.
Her hand slipped through his and settled comfortably in a clasp as the two of them would walk down from the landing towards the guard ensemble. "Not as exciting as ruling over your own land, I'm sure," she began modestly. "Father has had me working on relations with the other houses of late. He says I should be more political." She frowned a bit at that. Sae enjoyed meeting new people and experiencing their culture and world, but she knew he did not want her to play tea party for those reasons, and that saddened her. "But forgive me, I should not complain. Being diplomatic is the least I can do under your shadow."

Perhaps Targaryen's were not the descendents of dragons, but rather the children of gods and goddess. Adoration endless for the ivory clad woman held high in his arms. Saerysa did not giggle with the sound of any dragons roar, but rather her fit of laughter was befitting of a goddess. Enjoying each small expression that his sister shared with him, she lived in a completely different world then he did. It was truly good to see her in all her beauty before him. It wouldn't be to long before he would call the Red Keep his home. Then and only then could he visit her all the time.
At long last the woman spoke to him, the Targaryen appeared star struck with him, voicing that he had changed quite a bit. " You too my dear sister, no flower nor star in the night sky knows a greater rival for beauty then you Saerysa." the young dragon shared with a simple smile. The Targaryen second born had grown plump breasts, with hips no man could keep themselves from, dare he think anymore of his own blood in such a way. No other of their blood could match Aeryon's daughter, one of the few of his fathers blessings. Letting his sister lead them forward from the harbor to where ever she had planned for him. At the mercy of his sisters whim.
Soft digits intertwined with his calloused fingers, trained to the bone night and day for combat and lordly affairs. It was pleasant to feel such a virgin touch against his hand. Saerysa started to share that her endeavors could not hope to match the trials of ruling over Dragonstone. " If you can call that rock, land Saer, even the flora will not grow there." the castle felt like a prison compared to a fortress to project the strength of the Targaryen line. " What houses might I ask?" curious to see who his sister was talking to under his fathers command. Had it been House Baratheon or Tyrell he wondered with amusement. Hearing the last of what his sister to had to share with him.
Fingers tightened around his sisters as he leaned in to keep his forehead pressed to hers, whispering into her ears with a soft tone. " To me Saerys, you are my light. It is I who is the shadow that forms behind your radiance." a sentimental statement shared with his sister as he pulled away only slightly as they moved between guards. " One can not be without the other." he hummed softly. Subtly sharing that her job was just as important as his upon the isle. Giving the area around them a good look, It seemed to change drastically each time he visited, this world was never the same unlike Dragonstone that appeared locked in time. " It is good to be home."

Truth be told, Saerysa knew she was beautiful. It was hard to ignore or deny considering she had heard it all her life from mouths both sincere and flattering and seen it in every mirror. Even Sae was proud of some things, and her looks were arguably the only thing she had going for her - gods be good, she was allowed to cherish that one thing. But even though it was old praise by now, she still found herself blushing and looking away to hide the bashful smile as they walked.
"Not even grass dare grow under the dragon," she sniffed at his statement of Dragonstone - it was hard to say if she was joking or genuinely believed so. Perhaps a bit of both. As for the houses... "Oh, well, Lannisters so far. I will actually be leaving soon to attend some festivities in Casterly Rock. But don't worry," she added quickly, knowing the general reaction that came from 'Sae going off anywhere by herself.' "Arys, at least, will be with me." It was no secret that those two were closely joined, her uncle even referring to them as a set of sun and moon. Saerysa found that wonderfully poetic and apt - but it seemed that so many in her family were bright like fire. Sometimes she wondered if the gods had placed her into the wrong house. "Father was also talking about the Starks and Martells. They are so far away from us, it would be good to see how they fare."
The two royals would be guided to a litter; two open gilded thrones side by side on a platform carried by many able-bodied men astride. As soon as they were seated the litter was raised and started retracing its steps to the Red Keep; Saerysa habitually pulling the curtains to hide herself just a little bit from the public as she blushed again from Aegys's continued compliments. "You've only ever been so good to me," she thanked him. "I hope you stay at least for a little while. I know everyone will want to see you, too!"

Innocence blessed Saerysa with a unique perspective of this world. Naive to its harsh reality, her fate in House Greyjoy or Stark would not fair well. Though he would wish winter on no man, keeping his sister sheltered in the red keep was important to him. Hearing the Lady White speak of how nothing would chance growing beneath the fury of a dragon. A clever remark from the lass, but what surprised him the most was the Houses father had chosen for her to visit. House Lannister immediately soured his mood, having them around his sister quickly made him uneasy.
Though reassurances were made with her addition of their cousin Arys, the spark-fire Targaryen that managed to make problems for him at each corner. " Teach Arys how to knock." Aegys told his sister, trying to forget how his cousin had barged in on him in the bath. At least his sister understood proper manners to display before Lords and Ladies. Sharing that she would also be journeying to visit two kingdoms of the seven. " Just be safe, if anything were to happen to you, I don't know if even father could stop my fury." Aegys explained to Saerys, his concern genuine for his second-born sister.
Being brought up from the ground upon the Litter with Saerysa. Laughing a bit as she pulled the curtain before her, " It' should be a crime to hide your beauty in such a way from the world sister." Aegys teased with his sisters kindness being shared through her gentle words. All of them finding their way to his ears, " And that's all I ever plan to be to you dear sister, you deserve nothing but the best. Though my stay depends on father, but perhaps someday soon I won't have to leave." harmless foreshadowing of his master ploy, how he wished the Iron Throne to be his, but he had to wait. " You know you are welcome to stay at Dragonstone whenever you like my lady, I will always keep the hearth warm for you."

Teach Arys how to knock? "Oh- okay." The statement was very left field but it seemed almost scandalous in nature so Saerysa decided not to question it. She'd ask Arys about it: while she loved her brother dearly, it was at times like these that she felt he belonged to a different world from her. She had no idea what he had been doing while she spent her time in the gardens or library. Arys was definitely the easier person to ask.
"I will." Frankly speaking Aegys's fury was well known among his family. Sae would hardly wish to cause him that kind of distress, let alone unleashing it upon whoever or whatever was responsible for her fate. She found herself saying nothing at the stream of compliments, but her body language was a clear enough indicator that she was being haplessly flattered. Truly, Saerysa didn't like being stared at. But the main reason was certainly because she felt bad when commoners looked upon her in her outrageously expensive attire and constructs. What did they think of her? Surely little, for she was small and clean and pure with not a mark on her to show for any sort of ordeals at all. But Aegys's words brought her back to the moment. "Really?" she gasped. "That would be wonderful, brother! You belong here with us. I'm sure we could find a respectable man to hold Dragonstone in your place." As usual, the veiled implications flew through one hear and out the other when it came to Sae, so absorbed in the idyllic world she spent years in the making.
As the litter moved along through the streets and up to the place of royalty, Saerysa hummed and put a hand to her chin. "I have wanted to come many times, you know, yet everyone is so insistent that I stay here. But I think Father is changing -- I'm sure he'll let me visit soon." Saerysa did not really think outside of the box, or that she could go where she pleased; she had to have permission for everything, and it didn't bother her one bit.
Yet that was as far as she got before the litter suddenly stopped as there was commotion among the guards leading them up ahead. She couldn't see through the throng of people but there was some yelling through the bodies. "...What's going on?"

Clarification of the ordeal would only confuse the Targaryen Princess worse, yet the prince could not help himself but think if his cousin and sister had switched places on that night. Heat spread across his cheeks, painted a soft scarlet hue. Saerysa swollen breasts and hips on display in his imagination. " Our cousin lacks proper etiquette dear sister, she has lots to learn from you." the young dragon remarked, trying to cleanse himself of any improper thoughts of his dear sister Saerysa.
" Only a prince can sit upon Dragonstone." tradition bared him from living with his family at the Red Keep. Though soon enough the young master would take the iron throne. With him upon it he could be with who he pleased. Perhaps then he could be with the one he wanted most. " I need to think of a heir soon." Aegys shared with his beloved companion. " Want to help me with that ?" the prince asked the young lady. His implication serious with the gentle Targaryen Lady.
Before to long their paradise would be disturbed, mentions of their father would fall on deaf ears. The streets of King Landing suddenly spelled danger, their safe passage no longer secured. Aegys vision quickly focused on the growing crowd of people before them. Beneath his en-vestments he had light armor fashioned from chains, but he doubted his sister had such a protective luxury. " Perhaps someone is not happy to see your older brother?" Aegys suggested to his dear sister. Ready to grab for the weapon secured on his chest.

She would marvel at the dragon prince's blossoming blush. What on earth was he embarrassed about? What a sight the two of them must have been, white-haired and red-faced in each other's company. His words were surprising too, because Arys seemed like the pinnacle of politeness to Sae. She looked up to her cousin in basically every way, so to say she had beat her in this small measure... well, it made her feel good.
Not that it lasted long. "O-oh. Of course," she backtracked as Aegys stated the nature of Dragonstone, feeling abashed. How stupid of her, of course that's how it was! Suggesting that someone else could do as good a job as her brother... bad Saerysa, bad. Not that she had much time to beat herself up over it, because the next thing he said slowed down her mind to a puddle of honest-to-goodness mush. Did she just imagine it? Or did he actually say that? Sae's eyebrows shot up and stayed up even as the situation around them continued to deteriorate -- nothing else mattered. Because what was she supposed to say in response? A yes wouldn't cut it, and there was nothing else she would possibly consider. From the time she had learned to walk to the day she had bled to this very moment now, she had been told and reminded what her purpose was. The possibility of finally making good on the years of care she had been given was the greatest thing she could do. But... what was she supposed to say?
Of course? I love you? I would do anything for you? Take me?
It was hard not to sound slightly insane in her responses, because they had been hardwired into her since before she knew what the word meant. And perhaps there was a little good ole fashioned Targaryen madness in her, too.
"Aegys, I-"
And then a rotten fruit burst against the side of her head into a shock of green and yellow. Sae recoiled in horror as the spoilt paste slowly ran down the lengths of her sullied silver hair and plopped onto the platform unceremoniously. And then, not a moment later, another fruit flew, this time aimed at the Targaryen prince. At that point Sae just shut down internally and crumbled away to the roar that sprout around her, putting her head in her hands and trying not to sob.

" You need not worry about the small details dear Saerysa." reassuring words shared from the young dragons tongue with his younger kin. Details of who belonged to Dragonstone would share no importance with him when the golden crown sat upon his head and himself comfortable upon the Iron Throne. Saerysa expression swirled from confusion to a state of shock. Her vocabulary had all but left her vulnerable lips, silence filling the gap between the two. " Daughter of Aenar Targaryen the Second, Saerysa Targaryen, first of your name will you give me your hand before the old and new gods." a moment that scribes would warrant as a fairy tale. Westeros be damned by the crowned prince, the perfect moment sundered in the blink of his Valaryian eyes.
A scent of decay filled his nostrils as a plume of hues painted his sister in filth. " Saer-" his words cut short from an abrupt push against his attire. Rotten fruit bruised the flesh beneath his chainmail and cloth. A stone tossed shortly after that had pounded the crown prince across the forehead. Blood festering from the wound as Aegys rose up from his seat. Abandoaning self defense for the preservation of his sheltered sister. " Let me see her! Now!" royal orders were absolute. Shouted by the young dragon, both litters were brought to the ground. Aegys wasted no time getting to her side. Parting the cloth that seperated Westeros from Saerysa. Defenseless Saerysa cupped her face with fragile hands, covered in rotting fruit. What had been the meaning on this personal attack on the royals?
Heartbreak, the feeling swelled in his heart as the boy brought his sisters figure to his chest. Feelings of hapiness ceased as he died inside upon this sight. Heavy arms draped themselves around the head of the coveted child. Resting his chin upon the pinnacle of his beloveds head. " Forgive me Saerysa, I should have never come. You never deserved this." words falling to silence as the boy kissed the top of her forehead. The foul odor would not deter him from her, making no attempts to cover his nose or look away with displeasure. The assault continued as a supply of the rotten projectiles were thrown at the lightly armored back of the prince. Aegys did not wince once, his figure pressed forward with each loud splatter and thump.
Violet eyes were not filled with pain, such a feeling ceased to exist in the crowned princes eyes. Had anyone caught sight of his purple eyes, they would witness a true dragon. A unique pressure of dread and ire exploded from his eyes. Had he been the beast flames would sprout from his nostrils and tongue, the Targaryen prince had never been angered this greatly before. Had words escaped his lips they would not have been kind. The people would have lost their heads, but the woman in his arms brought a certain calm to him. " Are you alright Sae." his voice muffled by her ivory mane, his voice had grown soft and subtle. " I won't let anything like this happen ever again." Aegys weakly mused, pools of aqua swelled upon his eyelids before rushing down his cheeks onto her head. " I promise you as King." the boy muttered.

The royal escort was quick to return the hostility, and force was used as the dissenters scrambled among the streets and pushed past innocent bystanders who stood with mouths agape. The barrage of fruits and otherwise would start to cease as the perpetrators were hounded down and the crowd dispersed under the crunch and clatter of the guards' boots. But despite all of this, Saerysa still found herself immobile. Her brother had come to her side and was holding her; her own arms would slide to mold the contours of his body until she was wrapped tightly around him, face buried in his chest. It was better that way. She didn't want anyone to see her face, ugly with her furrowed brow and scrunched eyes and biting her lip. She desperately did not want to break down right now, it was a terrible place and a terrible time and it was hard to fully understand the gravity of Aegys's words: Was this a dream part nightmare?
The feeling of wetness that started to run down the tip of her head down her hair just made her feel worse. She had spent nigh on twenty years looking up to him and idolizing him. Yet here he was apologizing, here he was making promises, here he was weak. That was what she realized then in that moment, with the roar of the crowd and his words quiet and sonorous like a prayer. She was the chink in the scales of the dragon - the thing that would put him on his knees when he would otherwise reign fully. He was going to be King, and she was making him weak. That was unacceptable. From here on out, she needed to be better and she needed to be worthy and she needed to undergo a change. So she would start here by not shedding tears - she couldn't.
"I do," she told him finally, stamping the mark she would make in the history books. "And I promise that you never need to cry because of me again." She would lean back to look him fully in the face, only a few inches away. She brushed away the wetness and kissed him then.
By then the guard had returned to formation and were quietly awaiting their orders. After Saerysa broke apart she would look at them and wonder: what were they thinking? Were they judging them for being brother and sister? It never made any sense to Sae. It was like being in love with your best friend, but even closer because they were also your blood. Who would not want that closeness? Who else would know what it was like?

Slumbering dragons awoke within both these Targaryen's, the crowned prince finding his ire and the future queen her will. The beauty before the young dragon had transformed from a precious child into a goddess before his sight. Features thought of fondly as her brother now desired as a lover. His beloved would seal their companionship with two words, the young dragon in awe from Saerysa. " You are my strength Saerysa." the words felt surreal. Yet Aegys would not doubt this once in a lifetime moment as dream or fallacy. Madness would consume him when his lips met his sisters.
Plump pinkette lips pressed to his, Saerysa stealing the breathe the prince was worth. Lost fingers found themselves in the mane of his bride. Curling around her stubborn ivory locks in pleasure as he leaned into her brave act. Growing closer to her with each second until the two were forced to separate and gasp for breathe. Letting only enough air to speak fill his lungs. " I love you darling Saerysa." no other words were needed to share his heart with her. " I promise you the same my Queen." Aegys shared, no more tears would fall from her goregous eyes because of him.
It was only then that the crowned prince had returned to reality, the fruit assault had been ended, only royal guards kept themselves near the duo. They had heard their words and seem them share their lips with one another. Aegys tucked aside any stray hairs from his sisters cheeks and blessed her with a soft second kiss upon her lips. Wanting every one in Westeros to understand who the boy loved. Pulling at strands of crimson the boy tore apart his own garment, fine threads of cloth held between his fingers. Grasping Saerysa hand the young dragon tied a ring of red fabric around her delicate finger with a small bow, doing the same to his own hand. " a placeholder for now Sae."
Words at long last that he wished to hear, his beloved wished for them to return back to home. " I already am." Aegys replied softly from his act of love. Even the stronghold of Dragonstone would lit up with Saerysa presence there. There was no better home then the one by the Targaryen's side. No longer would the prince have to worry bout others trying to court his sister. " The Mother of Dragons." soft eyes fell upon his sister, their children would be pure-blood Targaryen's. No one more fit to rule the Seven Kingdoms then their offspring. Possible now that he could be a father and the one true king of Westeros. "I wont leave your side at the Red Keep, I only want to see you." Aegys shared softly to her, none of the family had come to welcome him save Saerysa. It was no wonder why he loved her so.

Her shy smile would grow into one of radiant happiness - too elated to be serious anymore. This was just like in the stories, wasn't it? Well, minus the flood-flinging and unrest, this was just like in the stories. Except Saerysa was the princess, Aegys was the prince, and this was not script on a page but instead the strung-together moments of her life for here on out. What could possibly go wrong for her now? She had the love and attention of the man who was someday to become Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and she would be Queen, and she'd give him all the cute little children with the white hair and violet eyes of old Valyria...
"I love you, Aegys," she'd sing in response to his own declaration, so high on her joy that she could've fluttered away like a butterfly into the clouds and never come back down again. When was the wedding? Did she get to plan it all or would someone do that for her? Could she chose the venue and add all the flowers in their pots and hanging from the walls and invite all the peoples of Westeros to come and watch, too? Well, maybe not all of them, but certainly the great houses! She was sure she could let even the commonfolk come watch too, and perhaps for one day in King's Landing the streets would smell of lavender and sound of trumpets from wall to wall. This was a momentous occasion, after all. Which was made even more impactful by the second kiss and then, as she watched him tear his own garment to procure, two matching little strung rings.
It was just too romantic! Bar the splatters of the things thrown on them earlier, but she really didn't notice that anymore, or even take into consideration the implications of such actions. Her world had shifted and was now only narrowly focused on her brother in front of her. The one that promised her so many things, all of which he could give, including staying by her side? "We have to tell Mother!" And Father, and her siblings, but even Sae realized that Mother would be the one who would be most interested in the news.
And really, for what more could the princess have wanted.
