Son to the lord of House Hightower, Francis, while nothing more than a low-born peasant with a penchant for hiding behind his mother’s skirt as a child, found himself adorned with the surname “Flowers.” A symbolic attachment noting not only his noble origin, but ironically enough, the dirtied, shameful exercise responsible for his very existence. Indeed, Francis, as a bastard, owes his life to wedlock and throwaway lust, but he owes his calling to his father’s sense of honor and pragmatism. House Hightower, integral to the foundation of the citadel, found a place for Francis in the Order of Maesters and shipped the boy from his childhood home to be trained as such. The move was political, with Francis being forced to join as to not interfere with the inheritance of his father’s true children. Despite this, he found himself rather well-suited to the order, and in many years time, eventually came to be a decent maester in his own right. Currently, he’s coming upon the tail-end of his first year as a maester for the Starks in winterfell, and hopes to serve faithfully for as long as possible.
