[PTab=BIOGRAPHY]
the storm is come.
sorrow by name
(this is long af. gonna be salty af)
He was the seconborn son, back then, born to a House that pledged fealty to House Lannister, the Lions of the Westerlands. His brother was two years older, and it was made clear from the start that leadership and the mantle of his House was never meant for him. They named him Arthur, hoping to make a pretty piece of him while they tried to nurture Arthur's older brother into someone who could lead men and be a good lord. Yet the irony fell on them - at cyvasse, Arthur bested his brother; at swordplay, Arthur was as good as his brother; and at studies, the younger son bested his brother. He had an aptitude for leadership, strategy, and study, and this did not sit well with Lord Marbrand.
His second son could be a potential threat. Arthur was more commanding, more magnetic, smarter by a mile than his brother. What do you do to a threat that was looming in the horizon? You get rid of it - and that was what Lord Marbrand did. So, at eleven, he sent young Arthur into Oldtown, where it was a hodgepodge of learning and Arthur took to it, eager to learn and make the best of his situation. He liked Oldtown, for all the learning it offered, the new tastes and scents, it gave him a new outlet.
Eager to learn, Arthur was determined to make the best out of his situation. He excelled at his studies, made friends, a figure that was to be admired, a thoughtful young man with those icy blue eyes and a desire to make the best out of what was expected of him. Some of his peers felt threatened by his persona; some were fine, and at the end of the day, Arthur was determined to pull through.
And he did, undaunted by everything. He earned his chains thoroughly, for ravenry, astronomy, economics, warcraft and smithing.
He had earned his chains when his father died; he was not yet assigned to anywhere, just graduated, at the age of twenty. Eleven years it had taken him to graduate; eleven years were enough to make Arthur grow up in knowledge of the world. No one wanted him at the funeral, so Arthur's lady mother was forced to write to Arthur with the news.
You are disinherited.
The words cut him. Now, he had no longer anything attached to him. And it took him time to process and breathe in the reality of the truth he was not going to be anything at all. Without a word, he took to alcohol to soothe him, to forget the sting, in a tavern. Eventually, he started taking to taverns and alcohol - and his string of visits soon saw him developing a fondness for a woman.
Her name was Tara, and she was the first woman he knew. They were friends; she nurtured the playful side of him. While drinking, she'd talk to him. He was fond of her, and she of him. Soon enough, he bedded her, took her maidenhead, whispering sweet nothings in her ear.
They met in the nights, a meeting of bodies, followed by mind and words. She could've been his. He could've been hers. They were lost stars, and he knew it from the beginning.
Then the day came. She left, without a word. The owner of the tavern said that she was going to King's Landing to become a merchant. She was a clever girl, they said and Arthur knew it; she had humored him with her keen sense of cunning at business and she knew what people wanted. Yet news came that she had died, raped and pillaged. It set a sour taste on Arthur's mouth.
There was no forever.
There was nothing.
What could a man live for?
Himself.
His pleasures.
Why not?
A week later, he finally got the news that he was assigned to a House already. Eager to serve and do what was expected, Arthur set off.
He would play the game.
He would come at whatever lunged for him.
They were all waiting for him.
