[PTab=BIOGRAPHY]
wait a second and you'll settle down
the winter snake
Bryant was born into the noble house of Bolton, hailing from the castle Dreadfort in the northern region of Westeros. His father reigned over the castle as the lord of House Bolton and as his oldest son; young Bryant’s claim to the title was a right by birth.
The son of a nobleman had both its highs and lows. Lord Bolton was a powerful man, renown throughout the continent of Westeros for his malice and brutality. It was rumoured among his own banner men that the loathing for the rulers of the north, House Stark, was the fuel that ignited his flame of malevolence. As such, his unconventional personality and actions was passed on through his direct teachings to his son as Bryant continued to come of age.
Bryant was taught how to use a sword at a young age, trained forcefully by some of the greatest warriors that the north had to offer. He learned that his family was to come first before anything else in the world, and that he would have to see to the success of House Bolton’s future once his father had left the land of the living.
It was this pressure that inclined Bryant to stray away from the duties tied to his own house. As he grew older, he became more interested with a life that existed outside of the barriers that confined the northerners to the lands of snow. He became widely interested in the large cities that existed on not only Westeros, but on the other continents in the world. He would compare the descriptions of these majestic cities to that of his dilapidated castle, growing more eager to leave his family and set off on his own journey.
Throughout his teenage years, Bryant proved himself as both a valiant warrior with the sword as well as a potential candidate to lead the future of House Bolton. He showed promise in all aspects that were associated with the house, even that of which was aligned to a darker nature that remained hidden away from the light of day. It was no secret to the other houses in the north that House Bolton used to frequently participate in the barbaric act of flaying. Due to a lack of solid proof however, it was often difficult to accuse the family of participating in such acts. It was also unwise to cast doubt upon the Bolton family, as they did have a wide array of influence among the other houses of the north.
Bryant flayed many men that were considered enemies of House Bolton. He would often perform his work behind the scenes, whilst his father continued to act as the leader of House Bolton from the surface. The act of flaying turned Bryant into a cruel and sinister man, twisted within his own dark thoughts. It changed the way that he looked at life from a general view, as well as how he perceived his relationships with other people. His relationships with women were often kept short; cutting off all ties with them once the flame had fizzled out between them. In regard to acquaintances, there were few that Bryant kept close to him. It was rare that Bryant would open up to individuals that he had not known since his childhood.
As age continued to pass him, his determination to overgrow the borders of The Dreadfort continued to develop. Bryant became greedy to achieve more than just simply leading a second-in-line house of the north, hiding away from the other areas of Westeros in their snow castle. He wanted a more civilised lifestyle, one that was more amusing than a common blizzard and the flaying of a deserter.
One night at the age of twenty-three, Bryant rode away from The Dreadfort on his own toward Kings Landing. He held the intention of never returning and as such, took most of his belongings with him and left a single note for his father that made no claims to where he had gone, only that he would return sometime in the future to claim what was his. As the son of a nobleman that had come of age, he was not short in the aspect of coin. As such, he began to put his money to good use upon his arrival in Kings Landing.
Bryant became a part owner in a variety of different brothels under the alias of the Winter Snake. He would utilise the revenue attained through these businesses to fund an extravagant lifestyle that consisted of alcohol and women for many years. He became fairly renown around the nightlife scene in Kings Landing as a calculating businessman who would personally deal with those who owed him debts. It was rumoured throughout the brothel scene that you could hear the cries of those who owed him debts under the floorboards of his home.
One specific evening when Bryant was at the age of twenty-seven, a member of the Kingsguard attended one of his brothels and made use of the services that the establishment had to offer. The said member left the brothel before paying what was due to the business. The reasoning as to why he did not pay was due to the fact that he was a member of the esteemed Kingsguard and as such, did not have to pay for such services as their lives were dedicated to the king.
Bryant tracked the drunken member of the Kingsuard through the dark alleys of Kings Landing in order to receive what was owed to him. The two of them argued about who was in the right before drawing their own swords against the other. The two of them began to duel in the middle of the street, creating quite a ruckus and drawing an interested crowd to spectate. Bryant utilised the skills in swordsmanship that had remained with him from his days at the Dreadfort to strike down the drunken member of the Kingsguard and take what was rightfully his. The crowd that had amassed however also drew the attention of members of the City Watch. These soldiers arrested Bryant for slaying a member of the Kingsguard and a trial was conducted against him.
Bryant was accused for committing a crime so notorious that it could even be considered as attempting to take the life of the king. His defence attempted to reveal the reasoning as to why the pair of them fought with each other, however Bryant was still found guilty on the charges laid against him.
Upon discovering the name of his house, Bryant was offered a few choices. He could either be hung for treason against the king, sent to the north to carry his life out on the wall or replace the fallen member of the Kingsguard that he had just slain. The deranged king himself believed that having a member of House Bolton on the Kingsguard would help with their ties to the north, as well as punish the current lord of House Bolton for allowing for such insolence to occur. After all noblemen were supposed to carry out the wishes of their family, not abandon their home in the quest to own a variety of whore houses.
Bryant decided that becoming a Kingsguard would be the most rewarding option out of the three that he was given. It also meant that he was no longer pressured to return to his home in the north, and that he could continue to live within Kings Landing as a sworn defender of the king. He lacks favour among many members of the Kingsguard due to the fact that he had slayed one of their brothers, however enjoys proving to them why he in fact is worthy of the role through his skills with the sword.
The Bolton-born, now aged thirty, continues to serve the realm as a member of the Kingsguard. He is somewhat loyal to the cause, having sworn to lay down his life for his king. When it comes to a situation where Bryant has to come through with his oath is another story. At the end of the day, Bryant craves to establish himself as a notable member of House Bolton who did not remain in the north but came to make a name for himself in Kings Landing.
