The swann in the storm
Born to House Swann of the Stormlands, a bastard of the ruling Lord and a Dornish woman of low birth. Doran was a child whose very existence bore inconvenience to the careful treaties which kept the Stormlords and the Dornes from marching on each other yet again. His birth would inflamed old and bitter feuds between the two kingdoms if his birth was made to reach the ears of others. With little inclination towards starting a war, or to sending his newborn son to their doom, Lord Swann decided to call in what favor he could from his liege lord, and had the son carried away in secret to be a ward in the care of House Baratheon. Doran was taken in and quickly raised to serve the house of his Lord unquestioningly, and was sorted to be a page to one of their knights.
Doran was most definitely his fathers son, the culmination of the blood that ran in the house of the Marcher Lords. He took to martial training quickly, eager to learn and showing proficient talent in the sword and lance. His skill was so noticeable in fact that it caught the eye of the lady Alayne, daughter of Lord Daemon Baratheon himself. It was in that time that the two found a shared interest in the martial field and began to train with each other in secret. Years passed with both of them aiding each other, becoming inseparable friends to each other. Soon Doran graduated from page to squire, and to knight not long after, becoming a sworn sword to House Baratheon.
In their coming of age, Doran was recognized as Alayne's most loyal servant, and tasked with keeping guard over her as her personal knight. Recognizing the honor and prestige in such a task, Doran eagerly chose to serve his house with utmost loyalty to his lord. He owes all to the Baratheons, and hopes to become a true knight in their name.
