POSITIVE It doesn’t matter whether one is a saint or a sinner; there is both an angel and a demon residing within them. For someone such as Hans, it just so happens that the demon within him triumphs over the angel in sheer ferocity. There is still a goodness to be found however. One will most note benign nature of Hans when he is around his family and is in a stable state of mind. Having been born without the traditional one, he loves his family above all else and at the end of the day they are the driving force for everything that he does. He is incredibly protective of them and those who he deems near-family, stopping on the borderline overbearing. He knows fear but it is because of his loved ones that he never acknowledges it and seems genuinely courageous to others. To his children he is both playful and loving, while to his wife he is the definition of passionate; expending every effort to see to their general happiness. He knows the faults of other men, being fully aware of his own nature, but is somewhat optimistic in his treatment of others. He is decisive and hopes that by being fair and compassionate towards others he can inspire good will for both himself and his family although it is possible that at times he seems overtly benign. Despite the air of nobility that he attempts to shroud himself with, it is clear to anyone that truthfully knows Hans that he is anything but. He is very much the peasant bastard that he was born, and has very health quirks to boot. He is extremely abusive, often times being short-tempered and descending into fits of rage. H can explode on any and everything that is within his reach whether it be person or thing. Hans feels remorse for these incidents, being somewhat self-loathing as a result, and they’ve become less and less frequent through the yeas but they are forever a threat. Due to his years in the slums, he very much understands the nature of other men and can be considered as equally cynical as he is optimistic. While he often hopes for the best, he prepares himself for the worst and uses this mindset as a cover for both his pride and greed. He wants to reach the pinnacle of power so that none can threaten him or his offspring, and that so none can rip his power away from him. Hans won’t betray the crown in order to garner more power but there are few other malicious acts that he isn’t willing to commit in order to further himself along, holding few things in an untouchable regard. His fury stems from a mental condition, but ultimately doesn’t threaten his life and simply has caused him to be an unpredictable and savage male. |

What goes around...
Hans Tully was originally Hans Rivers, which of course means that he was born a bastard. His father was the Lord of House Tully while his mother was simply a baker’s wife. From the instant of his birth, he lived a somewhat complicated life. Neither of his fathers wished to claim him or his whoring mother, regardless of his bloodline, and as a result both he and his mother were sentenced to life on the streets.
Years would pass, and the only life a young Hans knew was that of struggling and primal survival. Everything came to a change when he reached the age of fourteen however. His father, the Lord of House Tully, passed and left behind no suitable continuation for the house bloodline. Being known throughout the lands as his illegitimate son, Hans was fortunate enough to be recognized by royal decree as legitimate upon his father’s death and was allowed to take the mantle of the house. In a matter of weeks he went from street rat to the ruler of one of the richest houses in the lands. In spite of this royal decree his title is often questioned, many seeing his stature as a suggestion that he is not of natural human origins.
His origins reflect in his demeanor as a ruler, often times committing acts of great generosity hoping to appease his people and ease their hardships, remembering fully the poverty he once endured. In his early years, he was known for nearly breaking the funds of his house throwing extensive festivals for his people, and freely giving out his money. Such generosity died down after his first marriage and some advisement from others but such memories still hang in the minds of his followers. To most that live within The Reach, Hans Tyrell can do no wrong, despite the death of two wives and three adolescent children. Only his family and maester know the monster that he can truthfully be, for they are the only ones permitted to live afterward, should they survive his bouts of monstrosity in the first place.
