[PTab=BIOGRAPHY]
a dreamy-eyed child stares into the night
we light the way
The Lord of Hightower's eldest son, Lupus, was a curiosity upon the world. He was a child that never took to swordplay or to the air of battle. He was always knee deep in books, learning the ways of the realm and it's many inhabitants. Oldtown was his home as well as the home of the famous Citadel, one of the oldest structures in Westeros containing libraries of ever growing knowledge. As he sailed through the years, he became curiouser and curiouser...a boy too smart for his own good. Lupus would scare off people, touching upon unsettling existential topics like life, death, religion, and etc. He began reading ominous fortunes with a deck of tarot cards, and although the people around him were curious of his phrophecies they were afraid. One day he told a lady her husband would 'rest his eyes forever' due to a bout of negligence. Surely enough, the next day her husband wasn't paying attention where he was walking and ended up trampled by a rogue horse running through the square. People weren't sure if Lupus was real or just poking fun, the boy didn't even know himself. Not all of his predictions came true however, but it was still unsettling to hear him speak of dark futures ahead. He was socially awkward and often forged sentences that were odd and made zero sense. Talking to him was like talking to a riddle.
Lord Hightower, recognizing his sons raising eccentricities, decided it'd be best to have him lead a life as a maester instead of a lord. At the age of 16 he was sent to the Citadel to begin his apprenticeship underneath the Maesters of Oldtown. But sometime during the beginning of his studies he was suddenly consumed by a raging fire. The libraries around him turned to ash, replaced by magical flames burning hotter than any sun or star he's ever learned about. As Lupus stared into the fire, he saw something, something that changed him. Something inspiring. It was a vision from R'hllor.
Blinking his eyes. Everything was as it was. Lupus didn't understand it, but he began acting erratic. He skipped on his classes, stole books from the Citadel's libraries, uttering warnings and babble nobody understood. People thought he was going mad until he claimed he'd be leaving the Citadel to become a Red Priest for the small red temple close to the harbor. Lord Hightower was not pleased at this development, but at the same time he's already known Lupus (from a young age especially) wasn't destined for normalcy. He loved his son and could only wish him good will in his endeavors. The Lord swept his disappearance from The Hightower into the fireplace. He rarely mentioned his son, and would dodge any inquiries about his whereabouts. Not that anyone asked much, the subjects of The Hightower were afraid of him and dared to ask no questions. People knew, it was just a topic not discussed.
It was there Lupus donned red robes for the first time. As he learned more about R'hllor's teachings, the young man would isolate himself in the chambers of the temple for months and months at a time. Praying, worshipping, fucking the temple prostitutes, staring into fires for hours and hours. He didn't visit The Hightower since he left, that is until his twenty-third year. The boy had grown up to be a dashing, eloquently spoken young man. He was less socially awkward, more direct and rational. Although, his ominous morbidity was still present; even though his presence was unsettling, his sociable demanor made others feel more comfortable around him. That doesn't change the crimson of his red robe. Others avoid him, knowing he's dived into fiery witchcraft, while others are drawn to him. The men and women who've known him for years could tell there was something different. Something's changed.
Despite his religious affiliation, Lupus surprised his father with his knowledge of strategy and battle. Things he thought he'd never understand. Overlooking the red heart covered in flames emblazoned on his breast, Lord Hightower welcomed him with open arms. Apparently he too was drawn to his son's magnetic spell....
Lupus is very dedicated to the nobility and power of his house, despite being a disciple and servant of R'hllor. At the same time, only Lupus knows of his true mission. He knows one of his tasks as a disciple was to wash souls with his influence. His god was the only one that mattered. Faith in him would bring peace and happiness. Like the motto of House Hightower, which so ironically fits in with his new beliefs, "We Light The Way".
