No one predicted Dione: she was a surprise to everyone and even her father had doubts that his wife was telling the truth until he saw her belly grow. Born as the youngest daughter, she was pampered spoiled, given everything she wanted, thus she learned a little bit of sword-fighting from a trusted guard, history and geography from the maester and how to be a proper lady from her septa, although she was never good with social graces.
An accident during sword-fighting left the nineteen years old Dione with a limp and unfortunately it was enough to make her only suitor decide it would be better if he would choose some other lady over her. In the beginning, she wouldn't come out of her chamber, always afraid of the laughs and the looks, but a close friend reminded her that she was a Baratheon and she had to keep going.
Ever since that accident, Dione has focused on honing other skills, to make up for her defect: history, cyvasse, sewing, these have all been her companions over time, and she learned to be patient, learned that her fury could be easily suppressed as long as she diverted it towards other things.
Today, she is still longing for companionship, hoping that she would eventually find someone to share her life with.
