He is known for being efficient and ruthless in his craft, respected by most for it and only it. While he may not be the most loyal man in the kingdom he is being kept around for his efficiency and creativity which are required. Intelligent you could say by average standards, just enough for him to do a good job and know when and how to obey his orders, at least that's what he wants people to think. The Knight of Cripples
Ser Arri Vankurt, one of the greatest swordsmen and bachelors of the realm. Honor , beauty and strength inscribed at birth into one man by the Seven Gods. That's what he used to be at least, but these days nobody remembers any of that. He may at one time had shown promise enough to become a kingsguard but life is unpredictable. Conflict is as well.
The gods have granted him all that , only to take it back two-folds the moment of his capture. Certain events have brought him into the dungeons of the Bolton family and there hell commenced on the man, sending back to the capital only bits and scrapes of what he used to be. He returned alive but crumbled, a cripple, living in pain with every breath he took. As a reward for his heroism and usefulness for the crown instead of being allowed to die in the streets he was granted the title of Royal Torturer. What better man to inflict pain onto others than the one that went trough hell.
Now broken, crippled and tortured by his thoughts the man strives to survive. For what reason? Not even he can remember. His life's shit, his body's shit, even his spirit is shit but at least he's alive right? Alive and Dangerous.
