[PTab=BIOGRAPHY]
let the only sound
the lonely mermaid
Dyanna was born into House Velaryon of Driftmark. She grew up in High Tide, born on a breezy summer day to Lord of High Tide Marcyl Velaryon and Lady of High Tide Aerith Velaryon. Her younger days were filled with happiness and warmth; she spent many mornings frolicking through the sandy shores and dancing under the full moon of the solstice festivals. Dyanna was in love with her lush home, Driftmark inspired her to study plants, flowers, oceanic wildlife, astronomic tides and the constellations that encircled the moon. Marcyl and Aerith took her to King's Landing a several times throughout her youth for balls and galas thrown by the King and their extended family the Targaryons. But some of her best memories reside in the magical forests of Mistwood in the Stormlands, Marcyl had a holiday residence there and often visited with his family.
Dyanna attracted a lot of attention thanks to her delicate beauty, and many of the heads of several neighboring houses sought her hand in marriage at an early age. Her father, Marcyl, always declined. He loved seeing his little girl happy and free, it was her constant swimming in the sea that gave her the moniker Mermaid of High Tide. She was his little mermaid, and he refused to see her captured and kept captive for the sake of political strength.
Unfortunately Marcyl fell dangerously ill, and faced with mortality, he decided he had no choice but to marry his daughter off. Marcyl had strong ties with the Vale, he himself was good friends with Rufus Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie at the time. After a discussion over several goblets of wine, the two decided it'd be a wonderful idea to marry their children. And so, Dyanna Velaryon was officially promised to Artys Arryn the Second. At first, Dyanna was thrilled with the idea, she was after all a hopeless romantic at heart (she enjoyed fairytales and written romances). She opened her heart to Artys and fell in love with him. He was everything she's read in her books, that dark brooding hero that eventually sweeps in and rescues the princess. He was also kind, so much so that he allowed the wedding to be held on the shores of High Tide. It was beautiful.
Dyanna began her long term anxiety when she was forced to leave her home. As an Arryn she'd have to support her husband and live with him in his home, the Eryie of the Vale. The mountainous terrain was cold and unforgiving, she wasn't used to being so isolated, her first several months were very unnerving. She'd cry herself to sleep, missing her home, her family, and the familiar waters of Driftmark. Eventually this anxiety buried itself when she got pregnant with her twins, being a mother was exactly the remedy she needed.
Despite being overjoyed with her two children, Artys desired more heirs. Dyanna was happy to have more children, but after trying, and trying, and trying, and trying, with no results...Well, the relationship be6tween the Arryns had become strained. Artys began to distance himself away from her, and Dyanna grew melancholic and withdrawn. Her personality became quiet and detached. Her happy, cheerful, and free demeanor had worn away, replaced with feelings of uselessness and doubt. The man she loved was slipping through her fingers, all because of her malfunctioning body.
She's secretly began studying sorcery and witchcraft, desperate to find a solution to her barren womb. Of course, Dyanna makes sure to hide away any books she may have on the subject, she's even been debating lately to see a wood witch or a priestess of Rhllor to help with her problem. The study into the occult has sparked a general interest in pagan practices. After praying to the New and Old Gods for eighteen years, she's decided to take matters into her own hands.
