Rorion Greyjoy is an Ironborn through and through, and always has been. He was born and raised in the harsh times following the end of the uprising at the hands of the Targaryen, and as you know, hard times make hard people. Rorion never lacked for ambition and drive even at a young age, eagerly throwing himself into the life of an Ironborn. By the time he was 18 he was the captain of his own ship and crew, a natural leader and a physical specimen even as a young man. Living on hard islands with little natural resources, the Ironborn were forced to become strong and adapt by whatever means they could, and Rorion was no different. His knack for leadership and strategic thinking - combined with being a skilled combatant - made finding work on the ocean easy for him, whether it be protecting trade vessels, rich folk, or even taking down crews with a bounty on them. He traveled to lands far and wide, quickly establishing a name for himself in ports all over the world. Rorion and his crew became notorious for their violent efficiency and eagerness to accept tasks no matter the odds, but eventually this legitimacy began to wear on him. The more he studied different cultures, the more he yearned to bask in the glory that was his own history, and that was when he discovered the life he had truly set out to live - to restore the honour behind the Greyjoy name.
