It's survival of the fittest, rich against the poor

Perhaps it would be a bit cliche do describe Bryn's journey to Highborn maturity by saying he took to it like a flower to sunlight, but the young lord certainly grew into his own, leaves and all. It would probably be appropriate to say that Bryn fit the role of House Tyrell's firstborn with a more fantasy image than one that would be expected of him and his position. By no means did he lack the arrogance that came with his fortunate birth or the desire for swordplay and court politics, but he personified them in a more--in his eyes--selfless manner.

Strange for his ilk, Bryn's always had a sympathy for the lesser and lower class than himself. Unbeknownst to him, it's nurtured quite a bit of arrogant behavior and a hero complex inside the man. His overactive emotions and unyielding compassion have borne him the title of the "Gilded Lily", presenting his family name and freedom with his family's funds quite clearly. While this outlook has left Bryn estranged with his family (due to the fact that he doesn't know whether this frugal behavior would be welcomed or scorned, especially with his desperation to be loved and his dependence on the acceptance of those he needs to make proud of him), it's festered this runaway motivation. While Bryn is naturally adept in most matters of battle, politics, strategy, and knowledge, he uses the former as a way to vent and clear his mind rather than an exercise of sport.

At the end of the day, Bryn's life hasn't been all too bad. He was raised as the heir to one of Westeros' great houses, and plays his role with only the most minor of hiccups. His main issue is the struggle between the misguided philanthropist urges he harbors and the need to be acknowledged and to impress as a public figure for the Tyrell family.
