Lady Eirian started out in her youth as an ideal daughter of the Greyjoy family, intelligent, beautiful, passionate about her studies and a strong fighter. She was eager to learn everything about the world around her and how to claim it all for her own. However, while being so eager to learn, she was also prone to doing dangerous stunts and getting into what she should not. Many times, she'd somehow climb up to the top of stone walls or decide to try and walk on the railing of some high balcony, and she'd excitedly relish in the rush of the danger and the attention these kinds of stunts would give her.

During one of these childish antics, with her siblings close by, the Lady Eirian would suddenly slip from her perch on the railing and take a massive fall, landing on her head and going unconscious for a brief period of time. Her family thought for sure she would never awaken after many attempts to shake or slap her out of it. When she didn't so much as flinch, but was still breathing and her heart still beating, her family was prepared to submerge her body in the waters to drown her so she may go out in the most honorable way they could think of. Thankfully, before she could touch the water, she would manage to wake herself back up, but she was never the same.

Her memories were a blur when it came to terminology. She had a hard time remembering proper names of people, places, and things, despite being able to perfectly describe exactly what it was she was talking about. Most of the time it was just with locations, like the name of the island her family lived on for example, but there are times where she even forgets the names of her own family, even her own name when she gets nervous. If she can't recall the name of those from the other houses, it is not meant in offense, but simply a result of her unfortunate state of mind. It even gets so severe at times that there have been a few instances where she could be staring at some common place object, like a table, and struggle to tell you what it is despite knowing exactly what it is. She is able to describe the word, but it will more often than not just linger on the tip of her tongue for a solid minute before she might recall what it is she wants to say.
